Spencer the Dog: thoughts and tales of fun in Los Angeles, California.

Energizer Puppy.

That’s what my HM calls me now because I keep going and going and going. Two weeks ago today they gave me two weeks to live when they diagnosed my cancer, hemangiosarcoma. Well, I guess they got that wrong, BOL! I decided to celebrate with a small game of catch.

Throw it, throw it, throw it, THROW IT!!!

Going for the retrieve….

and one more time!

Ah, nothing like a game of catch. I am using my pink tennis balls now to show my support for cancer research. We are supporting the National Canine Cancer Foundation for their good work. The humans picked them as their cause after losing Raja to bone cancer. Hopefully we can find some cures soon because too many of us pups (and humans) get this terrible disease. During my pet therapy trips, I used to sit with humans during their chemo treatments at the hospital.  I saw a lot of survivors that I had previously met in the oncology ward so I know there is hope.

After all that fun I have to rest up so I have a nap with my favorite blanket.

I also got a “Love Ya” award from my buddies The Bumpass Hounds and Benson & Gibson. I send it right back to them all because they give out so much love to everyone!

The Mighty Spencer.

Hi everyone! I thought I’d give you an update on me…I’m still doing mostly well. I have times when I feel just like my normal self and times when I slow down a little. But it’s still  pretty good and I am a happy dog.

It’s been raining in Los Angeles this weekend so I nap when it’s raining.

It rained A LOT on Friday and Saturday so I napped a lot.

My appetite is as big as ever and now I eat only human food, no kibble at all. MMMMM! My favorite meal so far was grilled chicken served with polenta and cheese with a side of sautéed spinach. That was very tasty…I even took my time eating it. This morning I had scrambled eggs and rice.

When we get a small sun break, I go outside and roll in the grass. You can see the hair is growing back on belly where they shaved it for my ultrasound tests.

Sometimes I go sit in the front yard for a change of scenery. All the flowers are loving the rain.

When the rain comes back we play in the house. I got some new tennis balls! You can never have too many tennis balls.

And then I sleep some more to keep my strength up.

Thanks to everyone for all their beautiful messages and encouragement, it means a lot to me and my humans. I’m so lucky to have so may good friends!
